Spareslot

Privacy policy

Effective 2026-10-18

Spareslot is a BuckFifty product published by Favorably Inc., doing business as BuckFifty. In this policy "Spareslot", "we" and "us" mean Favorably Inc. acting for Spareslot. Questions about this policy go to akshay@buckfifty.com.

The short version

  • Spareslot helps a person who holds a recurring spot (a court, a training session, a class) offer it to people they know. We call that person the organizer. We call the people who might take the spot contacts.
  • We keep the organizer's phone number and name, the name and mobile number of each contact the organizer picks, and the texts Spareslot sends and receives.
  • We use that information only to run Spareslot: to send and answer the texts about spots an organizer offers.
  • We do not sell your information, we do not share it for advertising, and we do not send marketing texts.
  • Anyone who gets a text from Spareslot can reply STOP at any time. Organizers can delete their account in the app.

Who this policy covers

Organizers use the Spareslot iPhone app. Contacts never need the app: they get texts from the Spareslot number, +1 775 521 6885, and reply by text. This policy covers both. If you are a contact, the section "If you got a text from Spareslot" is for you.

What we collect and why

For organizers:

  • Phone number and name. You sign in with a code sent to your phone. We store your phone number, your name, your first name (used in texts to your contacts, as in "Spareslot for Maya:"), your time zone, a join code for your join page, and whether you have paused Spareslot.
  • Your spots. We store each recurring spot or one-off opening you create: its label, place, details you add (for example a gate code), days and times, how many people it fits, and the order and tiers of the people you want asked first.
  • Your offers and approvals. We store each draft you approve, the exact list and order, who was asked, how each person answered, when the spot was filled, and the notices in your in-app feed.
  • Your device. If you allow notifications, we store the push notification token Apple gives your device so we can tell you when a spot is taken.
  • Sign-in sessions. We store a hashed refresh token so you stay signed in.
  • Usage counts. We record a small number of events such as "draft approved" and "spot filled" so we can tell whether Spareslot works. They are stored with our own systems and are not sent to an advertising or analytics company.

For contacts:

  • Name and mobile number. An organizer picks each contact one at a time from their phone and sends us only that person's name and mobile number. Spareslot never reads an organizer's whole address book and stores nothing else about a contact from the organizer's phone.
  • Consent records. We store that the organizer confirmed the person agreed to get texts (the wording the organizer saw, the organizer, the person and the time), or that the person texted JOIN with the organizer's code (the text itself and its time). We store an opt-out when someone replies STOP.
  • Texts. We store the texts Spareslot sends to a contact, the texts the contact sends back, delivery status and any error code from the carrier, and what we decided to do with each reply.
  • Time zone. We estimate it from the mobile number's area code or the state in a JOIN text, so we do not text at night. An organizer can edit it.

For everyone:

  • Basic technical records. Our servers keep logs for 30 days to find and fix problems. At normal settings the logs do not contain phone numbers or message text.

How we use it

  • To send an organizer's approved offers to the contacts they chose, in the order they chose, and to tell everyone how it turned out.
  • To read a contact's reply. Replies like STOP, START, HELP, YES and NO are handled by fixed rules. For other wording a language model labels the reply (for example "wants the spot", "has a question"). The model only labels the text. Software we wrote decides what happens next.
  • To keep Spareslot safe: to stop texts to anyone who opted out, to limit how often one person is asked, and to find misuse.
  • To help an organizer sign in and to answer support requests.

We do not use your information to advertise, to build advertising profiles, or to send marketing texts or emails. We do not track you across other companies' apps or websites.

Who we share it with

We use a few service providers to run Spareslot. They process information for us under their own terms and privacy commitments.

  • Twilio sends and receives the texts and sends sign-in codes. Twilio sees the numbers and the text of every message and keeps its own delivery records under its own policy.
  • OpenAI reads the text of a contact's reply, and of an organizer's quick note, to label it. We send the message text and the minimum details of the open spots needed to understand it (organizer first name, time and place). We do not send phone numbers. We ask OpenAI not to store these requests.
  • Amazon Web Services hosts our servers, our database and our logs in the United States.
  • Apple delivers push notifications to organizers who allow them, and distributes the app.

We do not sell personal information. We do not share mobile numbers, or consent to get texts, with any third party for marketing or promotional purposes. We may disclose information if the law requires it or to protect people from harm.

How long we keep it

  • While an organizer's account is open, we keep their spots, contacts, offers, texts and feed.
  • Consent records, the texts Spareslot sent and received, and the delivery records are kept for about four years, because we may need to show that someone agreed to get texts and that we honored their opt-out.
  • The raw text of a contact's reply that was read by the language model is replaced with a fingerprint after 180 days.
  • Server logs are kept for 30 days.
  • Database backups are kept for 7 days. Information we delete from the live database can remain in a backup until that backup expires.
  • Opt-outs are kept after an account is deleted: just the phone number, the fact of the opt-out, its source and its date. We keep these so a person who said STOP is never texted again by anyone using Spareslot.

If you got a text from Spareslot

You are a contact. An organizer you know added your name and mobile number and told us you agreed to get texts about spots they can't use, or you texted JOIN yourself. Your first text from Spareslot names the organizer and tells you how to stop.

  • To stop all texts from Spareslot, reply STOP. We will not text you again unless you text START. A STOP applies to every organizer who uses Spareslot.
  • For help, reply HELP or visit https://spareslot.buckfifty-ai-herdmanager.click/support.
  • Expect about 2 to 4 texts a month per organizer, only between 8am and 8pm in your time zone. Message and data rates may apply.
  • To see or delete the information we hold about you, or to correct it, email akshay@buckfifty.com. Please write from, or tell us, the mobile number we have. We will delete your name and everything tied to your number, and keep only your opt-out record.

If you are an organizer

  • You can edit or remove any contact or spot in the app.
  • You can delete your account in the app (Settings, Delete account). Deleting stops anything still being offered, with the normal closing texts to people who were asked, and then removes your contacts, spots, offers, texts and feed. Opt-out records stay, as described above.
  • You can ask for a copy of your information by emailing akshay@buckfifty.com.
  • You promise that each person you add agreed to get texts from Spareslot about your spots. Please add only people who did. The terms say more.

Security

Connections to Spareslot use HTTPS. Our database requires encrypted connections and is on Amazon Web Services. Access to production is limited to the people who run Spareslot. No system is perfectly secure, and we cannot promise that nothing will go wrong. If we learn of a breach that affects you, we will tell you as the law requires.

Children

Spareslot is not made for children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect information from them. If you think a child has given us information, email us and we will delete it.

Where information is processed

Spareslot is run from the United States and information is processed in the United States.

Changes

If we change this policy in a way that matters, we will change the effective date above and, for organizers, say so in the app before the change takes effect.
